The start of 2026 brings a real upgrade for everyone who works with a Braille display at their workplace every day: with the new firmware 1.6, the Activator Pro takes a big step forward, offering greater speed, fewer keystrokes, and more personalized workflows in everyday working life.
The absolute highlight: the new macro function. Or to put it more simply: your Activator Pro remembers how you work and does it for you.
Activator Pro: Your workflow. One key.
With the new macro function, you can assign entire workflows to a quick-access key on the Activator Pro 80. On the Activator Pro 64, this function is available via the Fn + number key combination.
Imagine performing a task exactly as you are accustomed to doing it.The Activator Pro observes.
👉 One keystroke – recording starts, you create your workflow.
👉 Press again – the macro is saved.
From now on, a single keystroke is all it takes to run your personal workflow automatically.
Record. Replay. Done.
Why macros simplify working with a braille display
Efficient workflows are crucial, especially at computer workstations for blind people. The macro function provides support in precisely this area:
Significantly fewer keystrokes
Faster and smoother work
Individual workflows for programs and activities
Multiple macros possible on different quick access keys
Firmware 1.6: Improvements in detail
In addition to the new macro function, firmware 1.6 includes many improvements that make daily use of the braille display at work even more convenient:
Display of the active channel directly on the braille display when switching
Display of the last braille output when switching to internal mode
Simplified editor options (marking blank lines is now permanently active)
Query of mass storage mode via the file transfer protocol
Various bug fixes and performance optimizations
These adjustments ensure greater clarity, stability, and ease of use in your daily workflow.
